3rd and 4th May 2008
Gaelic Waulking
When homespun cloth came off the loom it was stiff and harsh. To shrink and soften it the cloth was soaked and thumped. Songs accompanied this process, which was known as waulking.
Sgioba Luaidh Inbhirchluaidh (Inverclyde Waulking Group) will be re-creating this atmospheric part of Highland life at Auchindrain Museum during the weekend of 3rd and 4th May.
Storytelling
Also during the weekend a professional storyteller will be bringing to life the stories, myths and legends associated with the daily lives of the people who once lived and worked at Auchindrain.
Performances and storytelling sessions will take place from 10.30am until 16.30pm on 3rd and 4th May. The event is FREE to Museum ticket holders and local residents.
